About City Council

The Los Banos City Council is the elected governing body of the City of Los Banos. The Council consists of the Mayor and four Councilmembers and is responsible for establishing City policy, adopting the budget and taking action on matters affecting the community.

The City Council is assisted in its duties by a number of commissions, committees, and occasional task forces.

Regular meetings of the Los Banos City Council are held on the first and third
Wednesdays of each month.

          City Elections

          Los Banos voters elect the Mayor and four City Councilmembers. Councilmembers serve four-year terms, while the Mayor serves a two-year term. Elections are held in even-numbered years, with the Mayor and two of the four Council seats up for election during each general election cycle.

          The City Clerk and City Treasurer are also elected positions and serve four-year terms.

          Statements of Economic Interests (Form 700)

          City Councilmembers are required to file Statements of Economic Interests, also known as Form 700, pursuant to California Government Code Section 87200. These public records disclose certain financial interests and help provide transparency regarding potential conflicts of interest.
