The Merced County Office of Emergency Services (OES) is inviting the community to participate in a public workshop on the update to the Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan.
The workshop comes as California takes steps to prepare for a potentially historic El Niño season. On September 21, Gov. Gavin Newsom proclaimed a statewide state of emergency to strengthen preparedness for potential impacts including heavy rain, flooding and severe storms.
The Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan takes a broader, long-term look at hazards that could affect communities throughout Merced County. The plan identifies natural and human-caused hazards and strategies to help reduce the damage they may cause.
